FOONG Sew Bun

Foong Sew Bun was conferred the title of IBM Distinguished Engineer, a recognition reserved for the highest achievements of IBM technical professionals. Sew Bun is also an IBM Certified Senior Consulting IT Architect and awarded the title of Distinguished Certified IT Architect by Open Group’s IT Architect Certification Program. Sew Bun leads the IBM technical community in ASEAN and works with top IBM clients as the CTO for IBM Singapore, IBM ASEAN and IBM ASEAN Software Group, serving on both the IBM Singapore and the IBM ASEAN business leadership teams. Sew Bun leads the technical leadership teams in IBM, brings IBM technical thought leadership to top clients with IBM research and development capabilities, and spearhead strategic partnership programs with governments, clients and IBM. In addition, he serves in several global IBM technical councils and is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology. Outside of IBM, Sew Bun is an Adjunct Associate Professor with the Department of Information Systems, National University of Singapore. In addition, he leads the development of national infocomm competencies for Singapore as the Chairperson of the National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) Steering Committee on behalf of the Infocomm Development Authority and Workforce Development Agency of Singapore. He’s also an Advisory Committee member of the Singapore Polytechnic Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and a member of the Institute of Engineers Singapore Systems Engineering Technical Committee. Prior to IBM, Sew Bun was an entrepreneur in a local start-up for a listed healthcare company, transforming a local bank IT in pioneering days of objectorientation, lecturer and researcher in the Institute of Systems Science, principal engineer of highly classified military simulators, and software consultant for Dowell Schlumberger in the United States. Sew Bun graduated with a BSc. and MSc. (Computer Science) from the University of Texas at Austin, U.S.A..
